Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then found numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for details.
A high-ranking official said the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
