Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
