Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party reach places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
